Today has been the longest day. Literally, when I think about sitting outside my hotel swatting at mosquitoes while waiting for my night bus... goodness that seems like it was two days ago, not 12 hours. I'm in Thailand right now, but getting here was not fun. I took a night bus, that ended up not really being a night bus. It was uncomfortable and when I got off this morning my legs were covered in bites from what I am assuming is bedbugs. Awesome. Another bad thing about this bus, they told us it was going straight to Bangkok. False. We had to walk through the boarder and when we got into Thailand we found out our bus had been replaced with a 15 passenger van. It was a really long ride. Side note: the first thing I saw when I got into Thailand was a monkey in a cage and a baby elephant crossing the street. #welcometothailand.
I guess it doesn't really matter because I made it to Thailand and am on my night train to Surat Thani where I will then get on a bus to get to Phuket– what is said to be the best island in all of Thailand. This night train is really different than the one I rode in Vietnam. Instead of little compartments the whole car is one room. During the day the top bunk folds up into the ceiling and the lower bunk turns into two seats.
