I finally think I have enough quality photos to prove just how crazy the traffic is. When looking at the following photos, really consider just how many helmets you can see... it is always like that. These weren't taken during rush hour, or at some crazy intersection. The roads are actually always that busy. If everyone in HCMC owned a car no one would be able to get anywhere because the infrastructure just couldn't support it. Also fun fact: there are only nice cars here because only the wealthy can afford them since there is legit 200% tax on cars.
Yes, they are on the sidewalk. Why not?
See how this person is just walking across the street. That is what I do! The motorbikes swerve around you.
I still haven't been able to get a good photo of a family on a motorbike. Some parents have chairs mounted on their motorbike right at the front of the seat and then a pillow on the dashboard. It is not uncommon to see a toddler sitting in a little chair, with his head on the pillow passed out while mom or dad weaves through traffic. I am determined to document these sleeping toddlers so stay tuned for some quality photos!
Emma! Mrs. London shared your blog URL with me, and I have to say, I absolutely love it. Keep going; you have gained at least one new fan and I'm sure I'll check in often to see what new experiences you've had. I can live vicariously through you! Also, have you considered writing as a profession? You have wit and wisdom to your words, funky ways of expressing yourself that both entertain and speak truth. I know I would appreciate a book or two with your style. So, rock on! Eat some more snails! Crawl through tunnels! Master the proper form of "you"! We're watching! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis comment made my day! I am glad that the URL is getting around, feel free to share it with anyone!
